Saharanpur Railway station redeveloped under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme


Meerut City, Modi Nagar, Muzaffarnagar & Roorkee stations to be redeveloped under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

Saharanpur Railway Station is an important railway station o­n Amritsar – Howrah and Delhi- Dehradun rail lines. It lies in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The region is famous for sugarcane production and other industrial goods. Saharanpur station is redeveloped and modernized under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is set to transform and revitalize 1309 railway stations across the nation.

Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of 553 railway station for redevelopment o­n 26 February 2024. These stations have modern passenger amenities like roof plaza, beautiful landscaping, inter modal connectivity, improved modern façade, kids play area, kiosks, food courts, etc. They are being redeveloped as environment friendly and also Divyang friendly. The design of these station buildings is inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture.

Under Amrit Bharat station scheme, following amenities have been improved at Saharanpur station:

·Renovation of AC waiting room.

·Renovation of UTS and PRS Hall.

·Renovation of Waiting Hall.

·Renovation of 3 No. retiring rooms.

·Renovation of 4 No. Toilets (3 toilets of retiring rooms & 1 toilet of AC waiting room).

·Re-Development of Circulating Area with Wider Roads and Pathways (8531 sqm).

·Re-development/addition of Entry/Exit Gates for smooth movement of Passengers

·Development of Parkings (3383.5 sqm)

·Entrance Porch

·Tactile Pathway for Divyangjan.

·Divyangjan Booking Windows-02 Nos

·Divyangjan parking-2 Nos.

·Intuitive Signages.

·Renovation of Executive Lounge.

·Platform surface improvement o­n PF-4.

·Single Line display Board.

·Multiline Display Board.

·Provision of new furniture (Steel Benches-56, Cushioned Chairs-130, Executive Table- 25, Sofa Set-7)

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme signifies a concerted effort by Indian Railways to modernize its infrastructure in order to elevate the travel experience for millions of passengers.  The scheme envisages building modern passenger amenities like aesthetically designed façade, resurfaced platforms, beautiful landscaping, roof plaza, kiosks, food courts, kids play area among others.   Efforts to ensure smooth access encompass widening roads, removing unwanted structures, installing well-designed signages, establishing dedicated pedestrian pathways, and enhancing parking facilities, alongside improved lighting arrangements.

One of the significant features of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is that the designs of redeveloped station buildings is inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture.

Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Meerut City, Modinagar, Muzaffarnagar and Roorkee stations are to be redeveloped like Saharanpur station.
