"World Environment Day" is being celebrated with various activities being organised in Delhi Division of Northern Railway from 22nd May to 05th June, 2025."


 

'World Environment Day' campaign is being organised in the entire Indian Railways from 22nd May to 5th June 2025. Various programs are also being organized by Delhi Division of Northern Railway during this campaign. Special campaigns are being run in railway stations, hospitals etc. Passengers are being made aware about the ill effects of single use plastic. This year's theme is "Ending Plastic Pollution" which does not mean just a campaign but should be an integral part of our conduct.

At railway stations passengers and railway employees are being made aware about the environment through banners, posters & public address system. The importance of environment and the ill effects of plastic are being told through social media campaign.

A workshop was organized for railway employees o­n reducing the use of plastic and its reuse at Anand Vihar Railway Station o­n 23.5.2025. Passengers are being made aware to use the dual colored dustbins provided at major railway stations. Plastic Bottle Crusher Machine has been provided at 11 railway stations over Delhi Division. Nukkad Nataks have been organised at Anand Vihar Terminal, Sonipat, Delhi Sarai Rohilla and Ghaziabad railway stations to create awareness amongst passengers regarding the ill effects of use of plastic. More such Nukkad Nataks are planned at others stations also.

Vendors at railway stations are being made aware not to use single-use plastic. Employees will be made aware to keep the environment clean in offices, railway colony, railway hospital etc. and plantation will also be done to keep these places green. This campaign will conclude o­n 5 June o­n the day of 'World Environment Day'.
