Today on the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, Shri Pushpesh Raman Tripathi, DRM Delhi alongwith ADRMs, CMS and Senior officers of Delhi Division commissioned4 composting units, as asolid waste management initiative, at San Martin Marg Railway Colony, New Delhi. Each composter for400 kg. wet garbage is designed to complete the composting cycle in 42 days and is expected to generate approximately 125 kg. of organic manure in 42days, thereby contributing meaningfully to a circular waste economy. The initiative commenced with door-to-door awareness drives, conducted by dedicated volunteers and team members, aimed at educating residents on the importance of source segregation of waste. The campaign successfully sensitized the community about sustainable waste practices. The newly commissioned composters at San Martin Marg replicate the proven success of an earlier model implemented at Sardar Patel Marg, where on-site 10 composting of wet waste has been ongoing with encouraging outcomes. This decentralized waste processing system has not only reduced dependency on centralized disposal facilities but has also promoted responsible waste handling at the grassroots level. To further build on this momentum, a dedicated RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Centre has been commissioned today, which will serve as a one-stop collection point for dry waste, reusable items, and recyclables. This centre aims to enhance material recovery while fostering a culture of environmental responsibility among residents.
