Union Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnav laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of Karpurigram station and construction of a subway at the western end of Karpurigram station.
Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Ram Nath Thakur was present on this occasion.
Hon'ble Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnav reached Patna today on Bihar visit.During his starting the journey over Sonepur & samstipur Division as well as other places , he inspected the passenger amenities of Digha Bridge Halt and did a window trailing inspection between Digha Bridge Halt and Karpurigram and gave necessary instructions to the officials.
On this occasion, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Ram Nath Thakur, Hon'ble MP of Darbhanga Shri Gopal Ji Thakur, Hon'ble MP of Samastipur Smt. Shambhavi, Hon'ble MLA of Bihar Legislative Council Dr. Tarun Kumar and other dignitaries were present.
The foundation stone for the upgradation of Karpurigram station and construction of a subway at the western end of Karpurigram station was laid by the Hon'ble Railway Minister at Karpurigram station. After the foundation stone laying ceremony, the Hon'ble Railway Minister while talking to the press representatives at Karpurigram station said that the upgradation work of Karpurigram station will be done at a cost of Rs. 3.30 crore under which the station will be remodeled and modern facilities will be provided to the passengers. A 18 feet wide FOB will be constructed at Karpurigram station. Along with this, a sub-way will be constructed at the western end of the station at a cost of Rs. 14 crore. This sub-way will not only make the rail operation more smooth and safe but will also provide a new impetus to social and economic activities by connecting the villages and settlements located on both sides of the railway line.
Hon'ble Railway Minister reached Samastipur station while doing window trailing inspection from Karpurigram, where he inspected the passenger facilities at the station and took feedback from the passengers by talking to them. After this, he inspected the renovated Control Room of Samastipur division and gave instructions to the senior officials regarding the safe and smooth operation of trains. After this, a high-level meeting was organized in the auditorium of Samastipur Division under the chairmanship of Hon'ble Railway Minister. While reviewing the ongoing railway projects in the meeting, the Hon'ble Minister gave necessary instructions to the officials and emphasized on completing the projects within the time limit.
During today's visit, the Hon'ble Railway Minister said that the share of rail in goods traffic has increased from 20 to 29 percent, which has been targeted to be increased to 35 percent. In the last 11 years, more than 35000 km of new railway track has been constructed on Indian Railways. He said that now the construction of Rail Over Bridges (ROB) will be done by the Central Government itself. He said that Railway has issued an annual calendar for recruitment in Railways, in which further improvements are being made so that the examination can be conducted on a time bond manner. He directed to make extra efforts for the quality of work so that high quality of work on the ground would be visible to the people.
Currently maintenance of 1265 coaches are being done by Samastipur Division. The Hon'ble Railway Minister directed the officials to install 06 cameras in each coaches and 08 cameras in each engines within the stipulated time. He directed to construct light ROBs in densely populated areas where it is not possible to construct ROBs. In order to promote container service, he directed to construct container depots as per the requirement. He directed East Central Railway to become the first zone of Indian Railways which is equipped with 100% electronic interlinking.
Today, while talking to reporters in Patna in the last leg of the tour, the Hon'ble Railway Minister said that under the leadership of the Hon'ble Prime Minister, funds have been made available as per the requirement for railway projects in Bihar. In the last 11 years, the Hon'ble Prime Minister has increased the budget for the development of railways in Bihar by almost 10 times to more than 10 thousand crores. In the last 11 years, many pending railway projects have been completed.
The Hon'ble Railway Minister said that the Hon'ble Prime Minister is giving the gift of many new trains for the smooth travel of the people of Bihar. These include 04 Amrit Bharat trains - daily between Patna-New Delhi, one weekly Amrit Bharat train each between Darbhanga-Lucknow and Malda Town-Lucknow and Saharsa-Amritsar. Along with this, a new train also has been announced from Seemanchal to South India and will run between Jogbani and Erode. He said that soon some new projects for Bihar will be approved which include 53 km long Bhagalpur-Jamalpur third line at a cost of Rs. 1156 crores , 104 km long Bakhtiyarpur-Rajgir-Tilaiya doubling project at a cost of Rs. 2017 crores and 177 km long Rampur Hat-Bhagalpur doubling project at a cost of Rs. 3000 crores. He said that two Software Technology Park of India (STPI) will be inaugurated soon in Bihar includes at Patliputra at a cost of Rs.53 crores and at Darbhanga at a cost of Rs.10 crores.
