Northern Railway, under mutual agreement with MCD, pays MCD for lifting garbage/malba dumped on Railway land at defined locations



Cleanliness Campaign around railway tracks started yesterday in a big way

New Delhi, 02.08.25

As per mutual agreement under Swach Bharat Mission between MCD and Northern Railway,
on date 01.08.2025
MCD Civil lines staff has started collecting waste material i.e garbage generated/ dumped by nearby residents i.e. jhuggi dewellers in Old Azadpur area as per mutual agreement under Swach Bharat Mission between MCD and Railways.  

Since yesterday was the first day so o­ne JCB was brought to site at around 12:30 hrs. for collection of scattered garbage along railway tracks Down line and this exercise was done between Km. 7/24-28 in 50*5 mtr. area at this location o­nly at o­ne place.  Removal of  this collected garbage will be done after completing collection of garbage of the whole area at this location. 

MCD will take up the cleaning work of the complete  railway area where regular garbage is dumped by jhuggi dwellers which is  leading to unhygienic conditions.

Railway has already released payment of Rs.2.0 crore earlier and around 3.9 crores is  being released soon (total approx. 5.9 crores) to MCD for lifting of all garbage/malba dumped o­n Railway land and MCD has started work of cleaning of garbage so that  the railway tracks and approaches are cleaned and beautified.
