The Delhi Division of Indian Railways conducted ticket checking drives regularly as part of its efforts to curb ticketless travel and unauthorized entry into trains. These drives resulted in the apprehending of numerous individuals and the recovery of fines and revenue. The drives were conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and ticket checking staff, with the goal of ensuring passengers travel with valid tickets and preventing unauthorized access to trains. The without ticket passengers not only cause loss of Railway revenue but infringes upon the rights of passengers travelling with valid tickets.
The Delhi Division conducted regular ticket checking drives, including surprise checks, to detect and penalize ticketless travelers, unbooked luggage and irregular tickets. During the first four months of the current Financial Year 2025-26 (April to July 2025) a total of 2.28 lakh cases resulting in railway revenue earning of Rs.16.58 crores and increase of 15.6% as compared to corresponding period of Financial Year 2024-25 (1.87 lakh cases resulting in railway revenue of Rs. 14.34 crores).The ticket checking operations involved collaboration between the RPF and the commercial department of the railways.A number of individuals were apprehended for various offenses, including ticketless travel, unauthorized entry, and other violations of railway rules. Delhi Division of Northern Railway emphasized the importance of traveling with valid tickets and urged passengers to cooperate with ticket checking staff.
