In a significant stride toward expanding freight operations, the Delhi Division of Northern Railway has successfully loaded and dispatched its first-ever fertilizer rake from Muzaffarnagar (MOZ) to Khongsang (KGBP) on 24th August 2025. This pioneering initiative marks a new chapter in the Division’s efforts to diversify and grow its freight business.
This achievement has been made possible through the proactive and sustained efforts of the Business Development Unit (BDU) of Delhi Division, which has been instrumental in identifying new markets, building customer confidence, and facilitating customized logistics solutions to meet evolving industry demands.
The rake transported a full consignment of fertilizer to Khongsang, located in the northeastern state of Manipur, reinforcing Indian Railways’ role in supporting agricultural development in far-flung and strategically important regions. This movement not only contributes to regional connectivity but also plays a vital role in ensuring timely supply of essential commodities to the Northeast.
With this single rake movement, the Division has earned a freight revenue of ₹35,61,350, reflecting both the commercial viability and the growing trust of the industry in railway-based logistics.
