Shri Ashok Kumar Verma, General Manager Northern Railway participates in Shramdaan at New Delhi Railway Station

"Swachhata Pakhwada” campaign being organised o­n Railways

from 1st October to  15th October 2024.


          “Swachhata Pakhwada” Campaign is being organized from 1st October to 15th October to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's birthday o­n 2nd October, to make his dream come true and to fulfill his commitment to cleanliness. Today birthday of Mahatma Gandhi is being celebrated as "Swachh Bharat Diwas".

         Today, Sh. Ashok Kumar Verma, GM Northern Railway  participated in Shramdaan at New Delhi Railway Station. Shri Sukhvinder Singh, Divisional Railway Manager Delhi with Officers and staff of Northern Railway participated enthusiastically in Shramdaan.

         General Manager was briefed about cleanliness Target Units (CTUs), Mechanised Cleaning at the station and feedback of passengers regarding cleanliness. Safai Mitras were also felicitated by GM. GM also inspected a transformed CTU and planted sapling.  He also commissioned Thematic painting at the station. To create awareness and seek cooperation of passengers to maintain cleanliness at station premises a Nukkad Natak was also performed. Scouts and Guides also interacted with passengers to create awareness about Swachhata.

Shramdaan was also organized at all stations. Cooperation of passengers was sought in keeping the coach clean, through PA system o­n major railway station. Awareness campaign was launched o­n "Meri seat Mera Dabba" theme to seek passenger cooperation in keeping coaches clean. Organization of cleanliness awareness campaign for use of bio toilets was launched Anti-littering notices were displayed in major stations, Railway Colonies, Rest Houses & Dormitories, Running Rooms, Hospitals and Health Units.  Swachhata Pledge was administered to passengers through pamphlets. Awareness was created for more use of paperless travel in all classes.  Feedback from travelling public regarding cleanliness awareness including message o­n 139.
