Accounts Department of Delhi Division adopting a humane approach and disbursing settlement dues timely to its Retired Employees.

In the last month of September 2024, Pension section of Accounts Department, Delhi Division has finalized 54 cases of normal retirement, 10 cases of family pension to third beneficiary along with 26 no. of death cases where settlement benefits were given to due dependent members. In 03 old cases where the bank did not provide original pension papers for more than one year, papers were collected with own effort by deputing the staff of this office and family pension was started. This has become possible due to the close cooperation among departments, intense monitoring of cases and system improvements done in Railways during the years. In Railways, Normal retirement cases are settled as per fixed schedule in such a way that each retiree receives his PPO on the last day of month and settlement dues within a weektime. Accounts office has taken significant steps for reduction of pendency of public grievances regarding settlement dues. Grievances of Senior Citizens have been put on priority and resolved expeditiously and in a prompt manner.

Settlement of death cases and family pension to third beneficiary are two areas where cases need humane approach along with due scrutiny. Priority is given to old cases lingering for more than 1-2 year for want of original papers, recovery of excess pension paid and other documents with the aim to prevent inconvenience to the pensioner and clear long pending cases. Emphasis is being given to resolve the issue through mutual coordination with departments and pensioners. Due to consistent efforts,  old cases, pendency has been reduced to two month old and efforts are being made to reduce the pendency to one month only.
