The closing ceremony of “Rail Mahotsav 2025” was held today at the National Rail Museum, New Delhi.

The closing ceremony of “Rail Mahotsav 2025” was held today at the National Rail Museum, New Delhi. This three-day festival was organized o­n 1st , 2nd and 4th February 2025, with the objective of promoting and spreading India's rich railway heritage and promoting art and culture.

The inauguration of the Mahotsav was done bychief guest Smt. Aruna Nair, Secretary, Railway Board o­n 1st February 2025 in celebration of the 48th anniversary of the Museum and today o­n 4th February 2025 the three-day festival was concluded in the dignified presence of Smt. Rupa Srinivasan, Member Finance, Railway Board,Smt. Aruna Nair, Secretary, Railway Boardand Shri Dinesh Kumar Goyal, Director, National Rail Museum. The colorful cultural performances at the function won the hearts of all the spectators.

The major attraction of the event was the operation of the "Patiala State Monorail Tramway" (PSMT) built in 1909 which is a preserved  working steam monorail locomotive in National Rail Museum. Also, the historic "Ramgoti" steam locomotive built in 1862 was also put into operation, bringing alive India's ancient railway heritage o­nce again.

Cultural performances in the Mahotsav included singing of Shiv Stotram by Ms. Vedika, Odissi dance performance by Ms. Shriya Mahapatra, "Tales from the Tracks" organized by Mr. Rahul Khanna and group with the courtesy of Kiran Nadar Museum of Arts, Kathak dance performance by Ms. Shobha. Apart from this, a charming flute recital  was performed by Shri Manjeet Singh and  group of Maihar Gharana.

Many interesting workshops were organized by the National Rail Museum during the festival to enable people to connect with the amazing rich history of Indian Railways. 

This vibrant festival was a unique experience for all, which will provide an opportunity to enjoy art and culture while understanding the glorious history of Indian Railways.
