Delhi Division Introduces Parking cum Stacking Facilities to Enhance Safety, Security, and Efficiency in Parcel Operations

Delhi Division, Northern Railway has initiated a major improvement in parcel handling by awarding six Parking cum Stacking Contracts at key parcel locations including New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi Junction, and Anand Vihar Terminal. This initiative is aimed at making parcel operations more customer friendly, secure and systematically organized.

Under the new arrangement, parcel operations will benefit from dedicated, well demarcated stacking zones that prevent mixing of consignments, secure handling areas that reduce risks of theft, tampering, and weather related damage, smooth movement of parcels from stacking areas to loading platforms and better protection for customers and lease holders, ensuring their consignments remain safe and traceable. The system has significantly benefitted parcel customers at New Delhi and Delhi Junction stations.

At Hazrat Nizamuddin Parcel Office (Sarai Kale Khan side) parcel handling currently faces significant challenges such as unorganized stacking of parcels which often obstructs the free movement of consignments to loading platforms, unauthorized parking of parcel carrying vehicles inside railway premises which poses safety risks and leads to congestion. Haphazard vehicle movement increases the chances of cargo vehicles hitting parcels or injuring customers navigating the parcel area. The Parking cum Stacking Contract directly addresses these issues by introducing a structured, secure, and professionally managed system.

Commitment to Customer Friendly Parcel Services with these improvements, Delhi Division, Northern Railway reaffirms its commitment to providing safe, efficient, and customer centric parcel services, ensuring that parcel operations across major stations are secure, organized, and aligned with modern logistics standards.
