| Digital payments in parcel offices of Delhi Division. | |

Barcodes are being generated for every parcel package booked at all parcel offices of Delhi Division and affixed on the respective packages.
After the implementation of Parcel Management System, almost 100% payment of parcel fares is being made through digital modes. Railway customers and business entities are now making payments in a secure and convenient manner through POS machines, online payment, and QR codes. This has almost eliminated the need for cash transactions and made the payment process simpler, faster, and more transparent.
Barcodes are being generated for every parcel package booked at all parcel offices of Delhi Division and affixed on the respective packages. Also, scanning of almost all barcoded packages is being ensured during loading and unloading of goods. This provides a digital record of the movement of each parcel and has made the monitoring of parcel operations more effective and transparent.
To further improve customer convenience, an acknowledgement message of booking is sent to the registered mobile number of the customer through Parcel Management System (PMS) immediately after parcel booking. In addition, customers are also provided information through SMS at the time of loading of goods and unloading at the destination station based on barcode scanning. This enables customers to stay updated about the status of their parcel from time to time and receive timely information about the availability of goods.
The benefit of this digital information system is that customers are able to receive delivery of their parcels on time, thereby avoiding unnecessary delays. Additionally, customers are also getting relief from additional liabilities such as wharfage charges due to timely delivery.
Delhi Division, Northern Railway is continuously striving to make parcel services more secure, transparent, reliable, and customer-friendly through modern technology. Initiatives such as digital payments, barcode-based tracking, and real-time information system are enhancing the customer experience while making Indian Railways' parcel services more efficient and effective.
