Civil Defence Day celebrations at DRM Office, New Delhi

Civil Defence Day was celebrated at DRM Office, New Delhi today in which Shri Sukhvinder Singh, DRM, Delhi and officers & staff of Delhi Division were present. Civil Defence Day is celebrated annually to raise awareness amongst citizens to volunteer for civil defence work and to pay respect to the volunteers who in the past have made immense contribution towards saving lives during various emergencies & natural calamities. The volunteers enrolled in the organization are railway employees who are trained and roped in from time to time to provide voluntary services o­n various occasions.

Currently, about 459 railway staff of Delhi Division are enrolled in the Civil Defence Organization and throughout the year they organized demonstrations & training in fire fighting, rescue and First Aid as well as help in crowd management at various Railway stations of Delhi Division during the peak rush festivals of Chhat, Diwali, Dusshera, etc. Today, the Division’s Civil Defence volunteers demonstrated their skills by showing various rescue activities like Fire Fox, Chair Knot, Self Rescue, Fireman Lift the railway officers and staff o­n this occasion.


Shri Sukhvinder Singh, DRM, Delhi speaking o­n the occasion said that during the current year, Civil Defence volunteers have done a commendable job in helping with the crowd management at New Delhi, Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Anand Vihar Terminalduring Chhat Puja Rushetc. He exhorted the volunteers to continue the good work in future also.
