To curb the practice of overcharging and other irregularities specially during the summer rush period, the team of Commercial Inspectors led by Mr.V.D.Meena, ACM, Delhi Division conducted a Checking drive against irregularities in Catering and unauthorised vendors at New Delhi railway station today.
In the drive, two vendors were detected for excess/ over charging. They were selling the cold drinks at excess price then the printed rate. Both of them were fined for Rs. 2000/- each.
Seven unauthorised vendors were also detected and they were suitably penalised. Some of the vendors were detected without uniform and name badges. They were warned to remain in uniform and wear badges in future.
The availability of JANTA- KHANA was also checked at New Delhi, Delhi Jn, Hazrat Nizamuddin and Anand Vihar railway stations and it was found available.
In the month of May, 2011, 286 unauthorised vendors were apprehended and a total of Rs. 74,360/- were realised from them. Amongst the vendors apprehended, 25 were handed over to RPF for further prosecution under Section 143/144 of Indian Railway Act.
The drive will continue to be conducted to check irregularities in Catering and overcharging by vendors at Railway Stations and on trains.
