Northern Railway is striving to provide better & better passenger amenities to the rail passengers. Delhi Shahadara which is one of the most important station of Eastern Delhi has been provided with better & better facilities over the last few years
In 2008 the station was provided with a new station building with new sheds, offices, booking halls etc.Thereafter the platforms were extended to accommodate longer trains.The parking at Ghaziabad end of the station was re-laid and the area was protected by construction of a wall which prevented entry of unauthorized persons to station area from nearby colonies.
For the convenience of passengers & to avoid long queus 3ATVM and one ATM machine has been installed in the station premises. The stalls have been renovated and made modular which adds to the beauty of the station. AFast Food Unit is being constructed and would commence by September-2011 and would provide multi cuisine items to passengers .At Delhi end of Platform 4a gate has been constructed to prevent entry of unauthorized persons into station.Construction of wall at Ghaziabad and Delhi end has enhanced security at the station.High Mast Towers are being provided to provide proper illumination to the station premises.To facilitate passengers 6 Advance Reservations Windows and 6 UTS, 2 STD/PCOs, Auto Announcement System, Face to Face Enquiry and train information display board have been made available at the station. For Gents & Ladies Separate waiting rooms with toilet facilities have been provided.
Therehave been demand from local passengers regarding more sheds at station which would be provided in near future.
