During the ongoing Pooja Rsuh-2011, preventing checks have been intensified at Reservation/Booking offices jointly by CommercialAnti-Fraud Squad/HQ and Vigilance with the assistance of RPF against touts, unauthorisedtravel agencies indulging in illegal business of sale of rail tickets and in trains to detect persons travelling on other’s names (TOT) during the period from 26.9.11 to 2.10.11 Number vof persons apprehended/ detectwd during the period are as under :
*4 unauthorised travel agencies were apprehended and 30 tickets involving 95 passengers were recovered from these agencies.
* 26 touts were apprehended under section 144 of Railway Act.
* 129 persons were detected travelling on transferred tickets (i.e. on other’s names) and a sum of Rs.82,185/- were realised from them.
Northern Railway reiterates its appeal to the passengers not to patronize touts and refrain from travelling on transferred tickets.
The drive against unauthorised travel agencies, touts and passengers travelling on transferred tickets will continue to curb the menace of touting and practice of travelling on TOT..
