NORTHERN RAILWAY HONOURS SIX EMPLOYEES
THROUGH SAFETY AWARDS
In keeping with the practice of honoring employees, whose alertness and prompt action have resulted in averting a possible accident, through Safety Awards, Northern Railway honoured the services of six of its employees through Safety Awards at a ceremony held at Northern Railway Headquarters Office, Baroda House, New Delhi yesterday (31.12.2012). The Safety awards were presented by Shri V.K.Gupta, General Manager, Northern Railway. Also present on this occasion were Sh. Gyan Prakash Srivatsava, Chief Safety Officer, Northern Railway and the Principal Heads of all departments of Northern Railway.
The six employees who were felicitated by the General Manager for their services are: Sh. Ram Swaroop, Trackman, Ambala Division, Sh Damodar Pointsman, Ambala Divn, Sh. S.K.Mudgil, Loco Pilot, Moradabad Division, Sh. Daulat Singh Saini, Station Master, Maheshra station, Moradabad Division, Sh.Fateh Singh Meena, Signal Maintenance Engineer, Delhi Division,Sh. Phool Singh, Gangmate, DelhiDivision.
Diligent inspection enabled Sh. Ram Swaroop, Trackman, Ambala Division to detect rail fractures and unsafe conditions on track between Ambala-Ludhiana section on 18.11.2012 and avert a possible accident of an Express train through quick remedial action. Similar vigilance also enabledSh. Phool Singh, Gangmate, DelhiDivision to detect rail breakage at a crossing area and avert a possible derailment of Passenger Train No. 54036 on 26.11.2012 near Rohtak station.
Attentive working enabled Sh Damodar Pointsman, Ambala Divn on train passing duties at Shambu station on 02.12.2012 detect hot axle in a goods train. Similar meticulous observance of duties enabled Sh. Daulat Singh Saini, Station Master, Maheshra station, on the Hapur-Moradabad section on 03.12.2012 detect hot axle in Shaheed Express. Quick action by stopping the train and isolation of the affected coaches averted a possible accident in both cases. Going beyond his brief of duties, good diligence and presence of mind enabled Sh.Fateh Singh Meena, Signal Maintenance Engineer, Delhi Kishan Ganj detect crack in the track on Down Main line. Quick relay of this information and prompt attendance to the problem avert a possible derailment.
Meticulous attention to train movement on track enabled Shri S.K.Mudgil, Loco Pilot(Goods), Moradabad Division detect unusual jerks in Kanth-Matlabpur rail section. He promptly stopped the train at the next station and quick corrective action by track maintenance staff at the spot enabled the railway avert a major rail accident.
The meritorious contributions of all the above named staff were highly appreciated by the General Manager.
