1. Overview:

With the Gazetted officers strength of 15 and non-gazetted staff strength of 4708, Mechanical C&W wing of Delhi Division is the largest ‘Carriage and Wagon’ maintenance organization at divisional level over Indian Railways. It is headed by Sr.DME/C&W who is assisted by Sr.DME/Chg. & Sr.DME/Freight in the division.

2. Maintenance Centers & Activities:

(a) Coaching Depots: Delhi, New Delhi, Nizammuddin, Delhi Sarai Rohilla, Anand Vihar, Shakurbasti, Meerut, Jind, Rohtak, Panipat.

(b) Coaching Activities: Maintenance of prestigious Vande Bharat Express, Gatimaan, Humsafar, Duranto, Yuva, LHB Shatabdi & Rajdhani rakes, Hybrid, Garib Rath, Conventional EOG stock, Other M/Express & Passenger train rakes, SS-1 Schedule of LHB coaches, IOH of Conv. EOG & M/Express coaches, Modifications & upgrades of coaching stock.

Freight Depots                   :        Tughlakabad, Ghaziabad, Shakurbasti

Container Sidings              :        DCT/OKA, ICD/TKD, AST, PWL, NO, GHH, PT & BDMJ. 

Other Sidings                      :        BTPP at TKD & MTSS at SSZ


(c) Freight Activities: ROH of BLC & BFKHN stock at TKD, IOH of BVZI stock at TKD, Premium Examination of BCN loads at TKD, CC Examination of container loads, Intensive Examination of BCN, BOXN & other category stock, Examination of BCBFG rake owned by Adani, Examination of BCACM & BCACBM (Double Decker), Examination of NMG & Military specials.

4.2 Coaching Maintenance Infrastructure:

(a) Washing cum pit-lines: To cope up the maintenance requirements, there are 38 washing cum pit-lines available across 10 coaching maintenance depots.

(b) Stabling Cum Examination Lines: For terminal examination of rakes, there are 20 stabling cum examination lines having provision of mandatory facilities as per RPC-IV.

(c) Sick-line Facility: Besides washing cum pit-line infrastructure, well established sick-line complexes are established at all the major depots that in totality consist 20 working lines having holding capacity of 141 coaches & working capacity of 83 coaches.

5.2 Freight Maintenance Infrastructure:

(a) Examination Lines: There are 3-freight examination points over Delhi Division i.e. TKD, GZB & SSB. In addition, examination of BLC rakes at the sidings of private container operators i.e. CONCOR Siding at DCT/OKA, ICD/TKD, AST Siding, PWL Siding, NO Siding, GHH Siding , PT Siding  & BDMJ Siding are also attended by freight depots of Delhi Division.

(c) BLC ROH Shed: To undertake ROH of BLC wagons, TKD depot having well established 205M x 23M covered shed with all associated infrastructure including M&P etc.
