History/ Milestone

Electric Loco Shed, Ghaziabad was set up in Feb’ 1976 to cater electric locomotive requirements for hauling important Mail/Express trains o­n DELHI-HOWRAH section. Initially shed was designed to home 50 locomotives.

  •  ELS/GZB is spread over 57019.00 m2 of with 20927.13 m2 covered area.
  •  1st Three Phase WAP5 locomotive was commissioned by ELS/GZB over IR.
  •  1st HOG locomotive of IR 30277 WAP7 was commissioned by ELS/GZB in 2010.
  •  Maximum loco holding has reached to 317 in May-2021. Current loco holding is 283



  • Loco Holding Capacity of shed was revised time to time from 120 to 200 during FY years 2009-2010, 2012-13 & 2013-14.
  • Augmentation work for loco holding capacity revision from 200 to 225 is under process.
