Electrical/G department is further sub-divided into 29 Depots (22 Power Supply, 4 Air-conditioning depots, SSE/Spl./A. Gate, SSE L&E/NDLS & SSE-OE&P/SSB).

1.0 Introduction

Electrical General Services of Delhi Division works under the guidance & leadership of the Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer General. He is mainly responsible for operation & maintenance of power supply, air conditioning assets, lift/escalator & water supply arrangements for the entire division i. e. at stations, service buildings, hospitals & railway colonies, etc. Budget management, planning of new electrical works for passenger & staff amenities, energy conservation works, liaising with DISCOMS & other civil authorities. He is also a cadre controller for Electrical staff.

Sr. DEE/G is assisted by Divisional Electrical Engineer/Spl. (Vacant) & Divisional Electrical Engineer/G & Assistant Divisional Electrical Engineer/G-I & II. To maintain the electrical assets, the work is further sub-divided into 29 Depots (22 Power Supply, 4 Air-conditioning depots, SSE/Spl./A. Gate, SSE L&E/NDLS & SSE-OE&P/SSB) headed by Senior Section Engineers. There are 72 supervisors, 47 ministerial, 1075 artisan staff.

The power supply is taken from DISCOMs of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and the Uttar Pradesh States. 11 KV HT power supply has been availed at 89locations and 440/230 voltage supply has been availed at 647 locations over Delhi Division.  The monthly electric consumption is 6.14 Million units and Rs. 4.66 Cr. is paid toward electricity bill.

Presently Delhi Division is maintaining 229 electrified stations, 470nos. electrified manned level crossing gates, 332 nos. High Mast towers, 187 nos. Solar geysers, 110 no. 11/.44 KV HT substations, 97 nos. Diesel Generating Sets, 108 nos. Lifts and 43 Escalators, 21nos. Centralized air-conditioning plants, 2825 nos. Window/Split/Package AC units, 453 nos. 150 LPH & 05 nos. 400 LPH Water coolers. Maintenance works at 19696 no. staff quarters are also done. In addition to the above maintenance work of important buildings such as Rail Bhawan, Northern Railway HQ office, Baroda House, Divisional Railway Managers Office, New Delhi & Railway Board Member’s flats, etc. are also taken by Electrical General Services.

4.2 Implementation of open access in electric supply for general services at New Delhi: -

  • Implemented at 03 nos. substation at NDLS : Ram Nagar, Ajmeri gate & Sadar Bazar
  • Saving in Rs. -  6.85 Cr./Year


4.3 Improvement in Aesthetic: -

a) Façade lighting: New Delhi station (Pharganj side).

b) LED Signage : Delhi Main & ANVT Railway stations.


4.4 Provision of Heat convector at running rooms over DLI division during Pandemic situation due to COVID-19

Heat convector provided – 349 nos.


4.5 Strengthen the Power supply system: -

a) Replacement of old OCB HT panel with VCB panels – 22 nos.

b) Replacement of old LT panel with New LT panels – 01 no.

c) Provision of additional feeder pillar for proper load distribution – 11 nos.


4.6 STEPS TAKEN TOWARDS DISABLED FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT AT NEW DELHI RAILWAY STATION.

a) Provision of lifts on Foot over bridge connecting with Platforms to assistance the Divayanjan passenger at stations.

b) Provision of escalator on Foot over bridge connecting with Platforms to assistance the Divayanjan passenger at stations.

c) Provision of symbolic signage for assistance to Divayanjan passenger at stations.
