Mechanical Power & EnHM Wing

DLI Division

OVERVIEW:-

The Mechanical Power Wing is headed by Sr.DME/Power & EnHM and assisted by one ADME/Power. Diesel Operation plays a vital role in traffic movement over Delhi division.  The Power wing has sanctioned Running Staff strength of 1672. Against this, on roll staff strength is 1649. The Crew of Delhi Division works the trains in adjoining Bikaner & Jaipur Divisions of NWR, Allahabad & Agra Divisions of NCR and Izzatnagar Division of NER besides all divisions of Northern Railways. There are 7 crew lobbies, 8 Running Rooms and 6 Railway Consumer Depots (RCDs) over the division under Mechanical Power Wing.

There is one ‘A’ class ART and one SPARMV stationed at Delhi Main station. One EnHM wing for compliance of Hon’ble NGT orders, implementation of CPCB & SPCB directions, monitoring of Sameer, Green Delhi & Smart City 311 applications with coordination of all BOs of Delhi Division and Head Quarters office. Four in-Motion Weighbridges (EIMWB) at location DKZ, NDLS, PTNR & NZM and one Static WB are at DLI location also maintained by Mechanical Power Wing.

Administrative and technical control of Heritage Steam Loco Shed Rewari has also been transferred to Sr.DME/Power in the month of Oct-2022.

1.Lobby:-

There are 7 Lobbies under Mechanical Power wing in the division, with a total Sign ON/OFF capacity of 2758/perday. These lobbies have proper facilities and amenities to provide a safe & secured environment for Signing ON/OFF duty by Running Staff. The Lobbies are looked after by one Sr. Crew Controller at each Lobby and have Crew Controllers (CCs) in each shift. The details are as under:

2.Running Rooms:-

There are 8 Running Rooms under Mechanical Power wing in the division, with a total bed capacity of 597. These are spacious Air-conditioned Rooms with proper facilities and amenities to provide a clean, hygienic and comfortable environment to Running Staff. The Running Rooms are looked after by Sr. Crew Controllers and have a caretaker also.  The details are as under:

3.Diesel Fuel Installations:-

There are 7 RCDs over the division, out of which oneis in the Diesel Shed at Tughlakabad under Sr.DME/Dsl Shed /TKD respectively. At all the RCDs except NDLS, the HSD fuel is supplied by Tank Trucks (TT). The average daily take off is as under:-

4.Disaster Management:-

"A" class ART with modified Gottwald 140T crane is stationed at Delhi Main station. For expeditious restoration, Division has a Road Mobile LUKAS Van to tackle minor derailments within Delhi area/ NCR area. This road mobile facility take cares of more than 80% derailments within Delhi area. An additional facility of MFD re-railing equipment is also provided at JIND, PNP, Ghaziabad and Tughlakabad to take care of derailments at nearby stations. Mechanical Power Wing is in-charge of disaster management of the Division.  Provision of one additional Re-railing equipment of BEMCO, Fire suit, Diving suit and additional hydraulic cutter for Delhi ART has also been made.

5.Other Activities:-

Providing crew for:

·16 links of Superfast/ Mail/Express trains.

·33 links for DEMU (28)/Passenger (05) trains.

·Avg. 17 pairs of Special/Festival trains like Puja specials, Holi specials, chhat specials, POW, Deccan Odyssey, maharaja express and VIP specials time to time.

·140 T crane, ART and SPARMV.

·Delhi Area Pilot & Coaching Pilot. 

·Fairy Queen / Steam Charters Spl Trains.

Training, Monitoring and Counseling:-

·Scheduling training program of Diesel Running staff for promotional courses, safety course, traffic courses and other periodical refreshes courses including new locomotive (WDG-6G) and (WDG-4G).

·Monitoring / grading of loco pilots by CLIs.

·Counseling of running staff regarding Safety Circular & Safety Drives of Head Quarter/Divisional Office and modifications of diesel locomotives/DEMU.

·Monitoring of PME, Safety/refresher courses of all Running staff to ensure that no overdue running staff to be booked for train working.

·Updating and Publishing of Signal Location Booklet for Running Staff every year.

·Counseling & training regarding safe train operation during foggy weather.

·Training regarding use of FSD (Fog Safe Device) during foggy weather.

Heritage Steam Loco Shed Rewari

(Mechanical Power Wing - DLI Division)

Heritage steam Loco shed Rewari is situated 82 kilometer from Delhi. Administrative and technical control of Heritage steam loco shed Rewari is under Mechanical Power Wing Delhi Division. There are 16 numbers of steam locomotivesare allottedto Heritage steam Loco shed Rewari. Loco Number EIR22 BG(Fairy Queen), 7000 WP/BG (Shaktiman), 2115 YP (Rewari King), 3415 YG (Sahib), 253 MG (1644), 7161 WP/BG (Akbar), 7200 WP/BG (Azad), 10253 WG/BG (Ashoka), 15005 WL/BG (She-e-Punjab), 22907 AWE/BG (Virat), 3634 XE/BG (Angadh), 7015 WP/BG, 4252 YG (Sindh), 3438 YG (Sultan), Model Loco (Yugantar) & 3724 YG.

Mechanical Power Wing is playing important and vital role to upkeep and maintain these locomotive and Steam Heritage shed Rewari.

Recent event done by Heritage Steam Locomotives

1.   Indian Railways is committed towards reviving and preserving its glorious steam loco heritage. In this series, first was none other than the Fairy Queen, also known as EIR 22 steam locomotive. It has beenrestored and maintained by Heritage Steam Loco shed Rewari. It has been used to haul the Ceremonial Heritage run of “69 Up Ganrajya Express” on Dt. 26-01-2018 in the august presence of Sh. Rajen Gohain, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways from New Delhi to Delhi(main) station with the senior officers of Railway Board and Northern Railway.

2.Further in continuation to the restoration projects, WP 7200 Azad, a Broad Gauge 1947 M/s Baldwin Locomotive Works, USA, make Steam Locomotive has been restored and it has been used to haul the Ceremonial Heritage Run of “63 Up Rail Saptah Express” from New Delhi to Delhi(main) station & back on Dt. 12-04-2018 in the presence of Sh. Ashwani Lohani, Chairman Railway Board with special school children as invitees onboard.

3.Then came the successful restoration of Mini Steam Locomotive 17655, made in 1950 by M/s Krauss Maffic AG, Germany stabled at National Balbhavan since 2007.
