Major activities of Electrical General Department are maintenance of power supply arrangement and maintenance of coaches. The power supply department has been divided into 11 activity zones viz: Firozpur, Amritsar, Pathankot, Baijnath Paprola, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Jammu Tawi, Udhampur, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Banihal & Budgam. The overhauling and repair of Oil Engines and Pumps of division (except for Katra, Banihal & Budgam Depots) has been centralized at Jalandhar City, under the charge of Sr. Section Engineer/Oil Engines & Pumps. Division has four major coaching depots at Firozpur, Amritsar, Jammu, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.

 

The department has sanctioned staff strength of 1927 Nos. & on roll staff is 1390 Nos.

Role of Depot Incharges:

1.Power Supply: Carry out maintenance work of all electrical assets like HT/LT substations, all service buildings, staff quarters, LC gates, Lifts & Escalators and to ensure uninterrupted power supply in his jurisdiction.

2.Air Conditioner: Carry out maintenance of all AC-SP assets and maintenance of AC coaches.

3.Train lighting: Maintenance of Non-AC coaches.

4.Oil Engine & Pump: Maintenance and proper functioning of all type of pumps and DG sets over the division.
