Duty list of Officers & Key Supervisors

The Safety organization in the division is headed by Sr. Divisional Safety Officer. He is assisted by Asst. Divisional Safety Officer and five Safety Counsellors one each from Traffic, C&W, P.way, Loco & S&T departments. Important duties performed by Safety Officers and Safety Counsellors are listed below –

A. Safety Officers –

(i) Sr. Divisional Safety Officer –

Carry out the inspection/super checks of the functioning of operation and maintenance of Engineering, Electrical, S&T, ART, ARMV and Mechanical departments. Attend accident sites. Compilation of accident statistics, conduct/coordinate accident enquiries, and monitoring of D&AR actions on accident case/Safety deficiencies.Issuing safety circulars and safety drives to improve safety and to spread awareness among the staff.

(ii) Asst. Divisional Safety Officer –

Conducting safety inspections of stations, Level crossing gates, Lobbies and Running Rooms over the division. Conducting safety seminars over the division. Conducting inspection of ART and conducting mock drills. Issuing of safety circulars and launching of Safety drives over the division on safety issues. Conducting Accident enquiries and counselling of staff on safety issues.

B. Safety Counsellors –

General Duties – Attending accident sites, Preservation of clues/documents, Assistance in preparation of Joint Note, Assistance in accident enquiries, Assistance in communications at division level as well as with HQ and Rly. Board, Preparation and updation of safety records/data pertaining to their respective departments, Counselling of staff, Safety Inspections and other tasks assigned by Safety Officers.

Specific Duties –

(i) Safety Counsellor/Traffic –

Safety counselling of traffic and running staff, Safety meetings and Seminars at stations, Day/Night Foot plate inspections and inspection of Stations, Cabins, Level Crossings, Lobbies, Running Rooms, Guard Brake vans, Monitoring of shunting operations and train operations during normal as well as abnormal circumstances.

(ii) Safety Counsellor/P.way –

Safety counselling of P.way staff, Safety meetings and Seminars at worksites, Day/Night Foot plate inspections and inspection of yards, points and crossings, worksites, Level Crossings, Monitoring of Block works, maintenance works, Safety precautions and protection at worksites.

(iii) Safety Counsellor/Loco –

Safety counselling of Loco running staff, Safety meetings and Seminars at Lobbies, Running Rooms, Day/Night Foot plate inspections and inspection of Lobbies, Running Rooms, Level Crossings, ARTs/ARMVs/SPARMVs, RDI depots, Monitoring and counselling of engine crew during working.

(iii) Safety Counsellor/C&W –

Safety counselling of C&W staff, Safety meetings and Seminars at coaching depots, sick line, Day/Night On Board inspections and inspection of Washing lines, Maintenance shops, ARTs/ARMVs/SPARMVs, Monitoring and counselling of C&W staff during maintenance and rolling in/out examination.

(iii) Safety Counsellor/S&T –

Safety counselling of S&T staff, Safety meetings and Seminars at stations, Day/Night Foot Plate inspections and inspection of Stations, Relay Rooms, IPS, Yard Point and crossings, Level Crossings, Monitoring and counselling of S&T staff during maintenance works at stations and yards.
